Game Notes:Of course it was nice to see Craig Rivet and Mark Grier as always. The Buffalo Sabres not only honored their Olympians but the Sharks as well. At the start of the game the ice was wide open, as if the players had forgotten how to play. Very few whistles with even less chances on net. On both sides of the puck the players seemed to be on vacation already. Play was very sloppy by both teams through the first, the Sabres shook off the cob webs but unfortunately the Sharks never did. Both teams had plenty of turnovers, and offside calls were getting out of hand. The 2nd period is when the lamp was light but no by the Sharks the Sabres scored 3 times in that period. Only after Mitchell’s scuffle in the 3rd did the Sharks score. The Sharks stepped up on the hitting but not like their normal ‘put the body to the ice ways.’ With the clock ticking away the Sharks went with the empty net but still couldn't score. While the Sharks net was empty the crowd started a “USA” chant, which is always nice to hear. The sharks end this road trip 0-11 on the power play.
Now I am not heartless I know the guys are tired and miss their families, I wish them only the best over the break.
